Sunday kicked off the Parsons Cup, an annual event wherein each of three yacht clubs, Watch Hill, Fishers Island, and Wadawanuck, field a small fleet of sailors for a series of races using the host fleet. This year, Fishers Island hosted a spectacular event, providing food, drinks, and a fleet of nine Herreshoff Bulleyes for all eighteen racers. Sailing on behalf of Watch Hill were Stephen Schwartz, Tom Kearney, Scott Brooks, Sara Kearney, Mark Schneider, and SJ Lefebvre. With a great race committee and lovely conditions, the team sailed four races in the Fishers Island harbor. Scott and Sara implemented the human vang technique for an impressive third place overall and, as an individual boat, Steven and Tom placed first overall after a day of incredibly skillful sailing. Thanks to the efforts of all six of our racers, the Parsons Cup returned to the Watch Hill Yacht Club. We’re very grateful to the Fishers Island Yacht Club for their hospitality and are excited to host Parsons on the WH15 fleet next year!
